Looking up North Avenue (Alley) towards Cowden Street from Fifth Street.

The store on the right at 513 Fifth Street, advertises scrap iron, starch, tobacco, macaroni, yeast, and displays goods in the window.

A cryptic note on the photograph says "Bucket of Blood," which was a term used for a rowdy saloon.
