Real Estate Listings of Harrisburg's Old 8th Ward
The following real estate listings appeared in the 1907-1911 volumes of Facts and Figures: A Journal That Stands for Progress. This publication featured Harrisburg real estate listings as well as noteworthy developments in the Harrisburg property market.
Because the Old 8th Ward no longer exists, these real estate advertisements are especially valuable. The many photographs found on this site document the architectural facades of Old 8th Ward properties, giving an idea of what the houses in which the neighborhood's residents lived looked like. But the text found below allows us to envision the insides of these properties, providing a glimpse of the character of individual homes. Further, these ads tell us what amenities were attractive to early 20th century home buyers and what the market values of 8th Ward homes were, in terms of both renting and selling.
